When we talk about adding a form to a blog, we immediately think about a contact form. That’s what most free plugins like Contact Form 7 and cformsII can do for your blog. They are free but what if you need something easier to use but can do more than just a simple contact form.
Not Just Another Contact Form
Here is a plugin that seems to rise above all other plugins (where forms are concerned) and it is Gravity Forms. Not only is it easy to use (with its drag-and-drop interface), it does more than just create a simple contact form. Here are some forms you can create with Gravity Forms.
- Contact form
As the name implies, you can create a contact form using this plugin. - Booking form
Add a date and time field and now you have a booking form for your services. - Guest post form
Accept guest post by letting the submitter fill in a form and it will be saved as a draft ready for you to approve and publish. - Contest form
Get contest entries via a form and schedule when it should start and end. You can even limit the number of entries to accept. - Survey form
With the ability to add different kinds of fields (such as drop down, checkboxes and multiple choice), you can create a survey form for you visitors.
Most Useful Feature Of Gravity Forms
One feature of Gravity Forms that you may find particularly useful is how the entries to your forms are saved in the WordPress database. This means you can view and reply to those entries right from your WordPress administration panel. Pretty handy if you get a lot of emails.
I also think of this as a backup is cases where WordPress fails to email you those entries. This may sometimes occur when there is a change to your MX entries for your web hosting account and you are not aware of it.
Saving You Time For A Small Fee
It is worth paying $39 (for the single site license) to get this plugin? I would say yes. Why I recommend this plugin over free ones that can create forms is how easy it is to create many types of forms just by using this one plugin. I use it on this site and it has saved me a lot of time.
If you are a web developer creating website for clients using WordPress, this is definitely going to save you a lot of time. You may need the multi site license (which costs $99 for five sites) or the developer license (which costs $199) for an unlimited number of sites.
